Aortic dissection, 3D CT scan

Aortic dissection. 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of a 67-year-old man with an aortic dissection. The aorta, the bodys main artery, is running vertically down centre (red). The heart has been removed from this image. A dissecting aorta is a type of aneurysm where the layers of the wall of the artery have split (dissected, seen most clearly at centre). The aorta is also affected by atherosclerosis, a narrowing (stenosis) caused by the accumulation of fatty deposits (atheroma, white areas) in the artery

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of a 67-year-old man with an aortic dissection. The image focuses on the aorta, the body's primary artery, which runs vertically down the center in striking red hues. Notably, the heart has been intentionally removed from this visual representation. A dissecting aorta is depicted here as an abnormality where the layers of the arterial wall have split or dissected, clearly visible at its center. Additionally, signs of atherosclerosis are evident in this patient's condition; white areas indicate fatty deposits known as atheroma that cause narrowing or stenosis within the artery. The complexity and severity of this disorder are further emphasized by branching patterns observed throughout the image. This male subject exhibits symptoms commonly associated with aging and disease progression. The use of false coloring enhances our understanding of calcification and stenosis within this intricate vascular system. Bones and ribs can also be seen surrounding these affected arteries, providing context to their location within the human body. Overall, this thought-provoking print offers valuable insight into medical imaging technology and highlights various aspects related to cardiovascular health issues such as arteriosclerotic vascular disease (ASVD). It serves as both educational material for healthcare professionals and an intriguing piece for those interested in exploring human anatomy through advanced scanning techniques like CT scans.
