EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a mesmerizing computer artwork of bacteria, specifically spherical (cocci) bacteria. The image depicts a multitude of these tiny organisms, each with its own unique shape and characteristics. Among the various types of bacteria featured in this artwork are Streptococcus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). While many spherical bacteria reside harmlessly within the human body, some can turn pathogenic under certain circumstances. Streptococcus is one such example that typically coexists peacefully with us but can become problematic if it transforms into a pathogen. On the other hand, MRSA poses more severe threats as it has the potential to cause fatal infections. The intricate illustration highlights the diverse nature of bacterial lifeforms and serves as a reminder of their significance in both health and disease. Through this stunning visual representation, Science Photo Library offers an opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of microorganisms.
