TEM of Escherichia coli 0111 bacteria

E. coli enterohaemorrhagic bacteria. Transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of Escherichia coli 0111 bacteria. These are enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), a dangerous form of the normally benign E. coli bacteria which live in the intestine. Usually transmitted by food poisoning, they can cause life-threatening diarrhoea, intestinal bleeding, kidney failure and disturbances to blood clotting. There are no effective cures for EHEC, but there are treatments for dealing with the symptoms of infection. Another strain of EHEC bacteria is E. coli 0157:H7. Negatively stained. Magnification: x40, 000 at 8x10 inch size

A2 (59.4 x 42cm) Poster Print

Bring the intricacies of microbiology into your space with Media Storehouse's stunning poster prints. This captivating image showcases a Transmission Electron Micrograph (TEM) of Escherichia coli 0111 bacteria, revealing the complex structure of Enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) - a dangerous form of the commonly harmless E. coli bacteria. Ideal for laboratories, classrooms, or any space inspired by the wonders of science, these high-quality poster prints deliver a striking visual representation of the microscopic world.

A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

Estimated Image Size (if not cropped) is 48.9cm x 42cm (19.3" x 16.5")

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of Escherichia coli 0111 bacteria, specifically the enterohaemorrhagic strain known as E. coli enterohaemorrhagic bacteria (EHEC). Normally residing in the intestine, these typically harmless E. coli bacteria can turn into a dangerous threat when transmitted through food poisoning. The consequences of an infection are severe and potentially life-threatening, including diarrhoea, intestinal bleeding, kidney failure, and disruptions to blood clotting. The image reveals the intricate details of these microscopic organisms at a magnification of x40,000. Through negative staining techniques, their distinct features become more pronounced against the background. This particular strain is closely related to another notorious variant called E. coli 0157:H7. Despite its menacing nature, there are currently no effective cures for EHEC infections; however, treatments exist to alleviate symptoms associated with this condition. Scientists continue to study these enteropathogenic microbes in hopes of developing better strategies for prevention and management. Science Photo Library has expertly captured this mesmerizing TEM image that serves as a valuable resource for bacteriologists and microbiologists alike interested in understanding the complexities surrounding EHEC infections and gastroenteritis caused by Escherichia coli bacteria.
