Eris, artwork

Eris. Computer artwork of the dwarf planet Eris, formerly known as 2003 UB313 or Xena. Eris is the largest known dwarf planet. A dwarf planet is defined as an object large enough to be spherical due to its gravity, and with an independent orbit around the sun (ie. not a satellite of a planet). A true planet has to dominate its orbit around the Sun. Eris fails because it is one of many objects in the outer solar system

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork showcases Eris, the enigmatic dwarf planet that has fascinated astronomers and space enthusiasts alike. Formerly known as 2003 UB313 or Xena, Eris takes center stage in this computer-generated illustration. With its spherical shape resulting from gravity and an independent orbit around the sun, Eris meets the criteria to be classified as a dwarf planet. As we gaze upon this image, we are reminded of the vastness and complexity of our solar system. Eris's size alone makes it the largest known dwarf planet, residing among numerous objects in the outer reaches of our celestial neighborhood. It is not merely a satellite of another planet but rather holds its own place in orbit. The significance of this artwork lies not only in its aesthetic appeal but also in its scientific representation. Through meticulous attention to detail, Science Photo Library brings us closer to understanding Eris's role within our cosmic tapestry. Let this mesmerizing print transport you into the depths of space exploration and ignite your curiosity about distant worlds beyond Earth's boundaries. Whether you're an astronomy enthusiast or simply appreciate stunning visuals inspired by scientific discoveries, this artwork serves as a reminder that there is still so much left to explore and uncover within our ever-expanding universe.
