Premium Framed Print : Coloured TEM of a Salmonella bacterium
Framed Photos from Science Photo Library
Coloured TEM of a Salmonella bacterium
Salmonella sp. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a Salmonella sp. bacterium. The cell is rod-shaped with long hair-like flagellae. Salmonella bacteria belong to the Enterobacteriaceae family. They are Gram-negative bacilli bacteria that inhabit the human gut. Salmonella includes the species S. typhi and S. paratyphi, responsible for typhoid and paratyphoid fever in humans. Other serotypes are responsible for gastroenteritis or food poisoning. Around 1800 serotypes of this bacteria have been identified. negatively stained. Magnification unknown

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a Salmonella bacterium, providing us with an intricate glimpse into the world of microbiology. The Salmonella sp. bacterium featured in this image is rod-shaped and adorned with long hair-like flagellae, which enable its movement. Belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family, Salmonella bacteria are Gram-negative bacilli that primarily reside in the human gut. Salmonella encompasses various species such as S. typhi and S. paratyphi, notorious for causing typhoid and paratyphoid fever respectively in humans. Additionally, different serotypes of this versatile pathogen can induce gastroenteritis or food poisoning, making it a significant concern for public health worldwide. Astonishingly, scientists have identified around 1800 serotypes of this bacterial genus. The negative staining technique employed in capturing this image adds depth and contrast to highlight the distinct features of the Salmonella bacterium under examination. Although we do not know the exact magnification used for this photograph, it undoubtedly allows us to appreciate the intricate details at a microscopic level. This remarkable visual representation serves as a reminder of both the beauty and complexity found within our microbial world while emphasizing the importance of understanding these organisms' behavior to combat diseases like salmonellosis effectively. This print from Science Photo Library offers an intriguing insight into one aspect of scientific research that continues to shape our understanding of microbes and their impact on human health.
