17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from Fine Art Finder showcases soldiers in British East Africa during World War 1. Taken in 1916, it offers a glimpse into the diverse forces that fought on behalf of the British Empire during this tumultuous time. The central figure is a soldier from the 2nd Kashmir Rifles, Indian Imperial Service Corps, operating in Africa. Standing tall and resolute, he represents the bravery and dedication of Indian troops who served far away from their homeland. Flanking him are two soldiers from the King's African Rifles (Uganda) Battalion. These African soldiers played a crucial role in defending British interests in East Africa and exemplify the contributions made by local populations to the war effort. The image captures not only the military aspect but also highlights colonial dynamics at play during this era. It serves as a reminder of Britain's vast empire and its reach across continents like Asia and Africa. Through this photograph, we witness an intersection of cultures and histories as Indians fight alongside Africans under the banner of British imperialism. It prompts us to reflect on how global events like World War 1 shaped societies around the world, leaving lasting impacts on both colonizers and colonized peoples alike. As we delve into this early twentieth-century snapshot, we are transported back to a pivotal moment in history when nations clashed for power and supremacy. The sacrifices made by these brave individuals echo through time, reminding us of their courage amidst adversity. Bridgeman Images has once again curated a remarkable piece that invites viewers to explore complex narratives woven within historical imagery – stories that continue to resonate with us today.
