The book was an account of the first successful journey by motor vehicle from Cape Town to Cairo, accomplished by Stella Court Treatt and her husband, Major Chaplin Court Treatt, in 1924-1926. Errol Hinds (1908-1980) was Stellas (1895-1976) younger brother. Stella is pictured holding one of the pair of grey monkeys she was given while the expedition was near Victoria Falls which she named Kima and Bibi
