EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the majestic Americas Cup challenger, Shamrock III. Created by Kirk & Sons of Cowes, this sailing yacht was a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. Designed by William Fife and built by William Denny and Brothers of Dumbarton, Scotland in 1903, it exudes elegance and grace. In this close-hauled view, the Shamrock III sails through the waters off the Isle of Wight with its gaff rig proudly displayed. The monochrome setting adds a timeless quality to the image, emphasizing its historical significance. The photograph captures a moment from the 1903 Americas Cup race where Shamrock III valiantly competed against New York Yacht Club's Reliance but unfortunately faced defeat.
