Neon Frontage at Walthamstow Dog Racing Stadium
Famous for its greyhound racing track, Walthamstow Stadium opened in 1933. With a distinctive pink and green neon-lit frontage, the stadium has been one of the capital's most recognised landmarks. Falling profits and attendances forced the Chandler Family, owners since the opening of the stadium, to sell up and the stadium was closed in August 2008

Greyhound Racing at White City
An advertisement for greyhound racing at White City stadium with a painting by Gilbert Holiday. The caption reads: "The trap snaps open...the 30, 000 people in the darkened stands break into a roar...in an instant six greyhounds are flashing down the straight, muscles rippling, coloured jackets flashing against the brilliantly lit turf...one of the tense, dramatic moments of a greyhound."

Tatler cover - Mrs Arundel Kempton & Mick the Miller
Front cover of the Tatler magazine featuring Mrs Arundel Kempton pictured with the legendary greyhound champion, Mick the Miller and two of his puppies. She was donating the puppies (whose dam was Toftwood Misery) for a sweepstakes in aid of the South London Hospital and Royal Veterinary College. Greyhound racing enjoyed a new found popularity during the late 1920s and 1930s not just among the working classes but also, "high society" with many society ladies owning greyhounds and inviting their circle for dinner and drinks at the stadiums springing up around the country. Date: 1932
