French lavender leaf pore. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of an open stoma (centre, black). Stomata are pores that open and close in order to regulate gas exchange in a plant. A pair of specialized cells known as guard cells (centre, green, oval), control the size of the opening by swelling to close the pore and shrinking to open it. Stomata are found mainly on the underside of leaves. This stoma is on a French lavender (Lavandula dentata) leaf. Magnification: x1889 when printed 10 centimetres wide

Environmentally and ozone friendly, Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached.
