Satellite view of a frosty landscape across northern New England and eastern Canada
April 3, 2011 - Satellite view of a frosty landscape across northern New England and eastern Canada. The broad St. Lawrence River appears nearly black due to the low reflectance of light from the surface of the water. Where the St. Lawrence narrows, the city of Quebec, Canada can be seen as a grayish a'white area distinct from the snow surrounding it. Further south, the St. Lawrence forms the boundary between Canada and the United States as it empties into Lake Ontario. In the United States, eight states can be seen. From the north and east, they are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Massachusetts, all carring a distinct snow cover. Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania appear to be mostly snow-free

EDITORS COMMENTS
This satellite view print showcases a frosty landscape stretching across northern New England and eastern Canada. Taken on April 3,2011, the image reveals a mesmerizing sight of nature's wintry beauty. The vast St. Lawrence River dominates the scene, appearing almost black due to its low reflectance of light from the water's surface. As the river narrows, the city of Quebec emerges as a distinct grayish-white area amidst the surrounding snow-covered terrain. Moving southward, the St. Lawrence serves as a natural boundary between Canada and the United States before flowing into Lake Ontario. From this aerial perspective, eight states in America can be observed: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts - all adorned with their own unique snow cover. While Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania appear mostly free from snowfall in this snapshot of time and space; it is evident that winter has left an indelible mark on these northeastern regions. The photo captures not only physical geography but also conveys a sense of tranquility and serenity found within these frozen landscapes. This stunning visual portrayal allows us to appreciate Earth's diverse topography while highlighting how weather patterns shape our surroundings. It reminds us of both the power and delicate intricacy inherent in our planet's natural systems – an awe-inspiring testament to Mother Nature herself.
