Two views of Europa from the Galileo spacecraft

Europa. Two Galileo spacecraft images of Europa, one of Jupiters four Galilean moons. The image on the left shows Europa, which is about the same size as Earths Moon, in natural colours. The right image has been processed to enhance colour differences: ice containing rocky material is dark brown; fine-grained ice is light blue; coarse- grained ice is dark blue. The surface of Europa is marked by fractures that can be over 3000 kilometres (km) long. The bright area at lower right in each image is the Pwyll impact crater. These images of Europas trailing hemisphere were taken by Galileos Solid State Imaging System on 7 September 1996 at a range of 677, 000 km

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases two stunning views of Europa, one of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, captured by the Galileo spacecraft. The left image presents Europa in its natural colors, revealing a moon that is comparable in size to Earth's Moon. On the right side, we are presented with a processed image that enhances color differences on Europa's surface. The enhanced colors allow us to discern various features on this enigmatic moon. Dark brown areas represent ice containing rocky material, while light blue shades indicate fine-grained ice and dark blue signifies coarse-grained ice. Stretching across the surface are fractures measuring over an astonishing 3000 kilometers long. At the lower right corner of both images lies the Pwyll impact crater, shining brightly against the lunar backdrop. These mesmerizing snapshots were taken by Galileo's Solid State Imaging System on September 7th, 1996 when the spacecraft was approximately 677,000 kilometers away from Europa. Through these remarkable images, we gain insight into Europas trailing hemisphere and marvel at its unique geological formations. This photograph serves as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge about our vast universe and reminds us of the awe-inspiring beauty that exists beyond our own planet.
