Mosaic of images showing one of Mars hemispheres

Mars. Mosaic of images taken by the Viking I and II probes showing the globe of Mars. The image is centred on 90 degrees longitude and 0 degrees latitude. The equatorial band and the southern hemisphere of the planet are marked by heavily cratered areas whereas the northern hemisphere is occupied by vast, sparsely cratered plains. The south polar cap (white bottom) is believed to consist mainly of frozen carbon dioxide; the north polar cap is formed by a mixture of carbon dioxide and water ice. The Tharsis region (upper centre left) hosts many volcanoes (round features), the largest of which being Olympus Mons (centre left) with a diameter of about 540km

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a mesmerizing mosaic of images, revealing one of Mars' hemispheres in all its enigmatic glory. Captured by the Viking I and II probes, this breathtaking snapshot focuses on 90 degrees longitude and 0 degrees latitude, providing us with a remarkable view of the Red Planet's globe. As we delve into this image, we are greeted by contrasting landscapes that paint a vivid picture of Mars' diverse topography. The equatorial band and southern hemisphere exhibit heavily cratered areas, bearing witness to countless cosmic collisions over time. In stark contrast, the northern hemisphere unveils vast plains adorned with sparse craters. The striking white expanse at the bottom represents the south polar cap—a frozen reservoir primarily composed of carbon dioxide. On the other hand, the north polar cap is an intriguing blend of carbon dioxide and water ice—an icy marvel nestled amidst this alien world. Our gaze then shifts towards Tharsis region—situated in the upper center left—which plays host to numerous volcanoes depicted as round features. Among these volcanic wonders stands Olympus Mons—the grandest among them all—with an astonishing diameter stretching approximately 540 kilometers. This awe-inspiring photograph not only offers us a glimpse into Mars' mysterious landscape but also ignites our curiosity about what lies beyond our own celestial home. It serves as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge in unraveling the secrets hidden within our vast universe.
