FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Plate 14 from Pomona Londinensis (1818) showcases a stunning illustration of the Coes Golden Drop Plum (Prunus sp.), a variety of the common plum (Prunus domestica) belonging to the Rosaceae family, subfamily Prunoideae, and the genus Prunus. This exquisite plate, held in the esteemed Botany Library at the Natural History Museum in London, was produced during the 19th century by the renowned botanist William Hooker. The Coes Golden Drop Plum, also known as the European plum, is a deciduous tree that produces edible fruits. The illustration captures the tree in all its glory, with its delicate, pinkish-white flowers adorning the branches and the golden, succulent fruits hanging in clusters. The fruit's golden hue is a result of its unique ripening process, which gives it a distinctive sweet and juicy flavor. This illustration is a testament to the intricate detail and artistry of the 19th century, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the angiosperms, specifically the eudicots or dicotyledons. The Coes Golden Drop Plum is a member of the Rosales order, which includes a wide range of flowering plants, and the Fabaceae family, which includes important food crops such as beans and peas. The Coes Golden Drop Plum holds a special place in the history of botany, as it is a representative of the rich botanical heritage of Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries. The Pomona Londinensis, or London Pomona, was a comprehensive work that documented the fruits and nuts of Europe, making it an invaluable resource for botanists, horticulturists, and fruit growers of the time. This illustration is a reminder of the importance of documenting and preserving the natural world, and the role that botanical art plays in showcasing the beauty and diversity of the plant kingdom.
