17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases an Officers Compass, manufactured by Dennison of Birmingham in 1917, during the tumultuous period of World War I. The broad arrow marking on the compass indicates that it was issued by the British military, making it an essential piece of equipment for navigating the battlefields of the Great War. During the early 20th century, the ability to accurately navigate was crucial for the success of military operations. With the chaos and unpredictability of war, soldiers and officers relied on their compasses to find their way through unfamiliar terrain, often under difficult conditions. The Dennison compass, with its intricate design and precise mechanism, was a trusted companion for many British officers during this pivotal time in history. The compass, which dates back to 1917, features the classic card compass design, with a rotating bezel marked for north, south, east, and west. The dial is adorned with a red arrow, indicating the current direction of travel, while the surrounding casing is made of a sturdy metal material, designed to withstand the rigors of wartime use. This historic artifact serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the First World War and the critical role that technology played in shaping the course of military history. The Dennison Officers Compass, manufactured in Birmingham in 1917, stands as a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of those who braved the challenges of the battlefield, navigating their way through the unknown with unwavering determination and courage.
