17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Mary Anning (1799-1847): A Pioneering Fossil Collector of Lyme Regis, Dorset This evocative oil painting captures the spirit of Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil collector from Lyme Regis, Dorset, England. The scene is set against the picturesque backdrop of Golden Cap, a chalk cliff that overlooks the Jurassic Coast. Mary Anning is depicted in the foreground, her determined gaze fixed on the ground as she meticulously searches for fossils. Mary Anning was born in Lyme Regis in 1799 and became renowned for her discoveries of prehistoric marine reptiles and fossilized mammals. Her findings, which included the first complete ichthyosaur skeleton and the first plesiosaur skeleton, revolutionized the scientific understanding of the natural world during the nineteenth century. The painting captures the essence of Anning's tireless dedication to her work. She is shown wearing a simple dress and carrying a basket, which is filled with various fossils. At her feet, a canine companion, likely a domestic dog or Canis lupus familiaris, keeps her company. The painting's rich colors and intricate details bring the scene to life, transporting us back in time to the 19th century. Mary Anning's groundbreaking discoveries placed her at the forefront of the scientific community, despite facing numerous challenges as a woman in a male-dominated field. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of scientists and naturalists, and her contributions to the study of paleontology are still celebrated today. This painting, held at the Natural History Museum in London, is a testament to Mary Anning's unwavering passion for uncovering the secrets of the natural world. It is a reminder of the importance of curiosity, determination, and a deep connection to the natural world, which continue to be essential qualities for scientists and explorers alike.
