17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking image captures a pivotal moment in French history as Louis XVI and his family are confronted by an angry mob of over 6000 citizens in the Tuileries Palace on June 20, 1792. The scene unfolds as the people, fueled by their demand for reforms and the withdrawal of the King's veto, force their way into the palace. Louis XVI, dressed in his regal attire, stands resolute, refusing to yield to their demands. The events leading up to this moment had been building for some time. The French Revolution, which began in 1789, had seen the overthrow of the monarchy's absolute power and the establishment of a constitutional monarchy. However, the King's refusal to fully embrace reforms and the continued presence of the Bastille fortress in Paris served as a flashpoint for the growing discontent among the population. As the crowd surged forward, the King and his family were forced to don the revolutionary caps, a symbol of their allegiance to the new order. This humiliating act was a clear demonstration of the people's power to overthrow the monarchy and assert their control over their government. Despite the King's reluctance, the events of June 20, 1792 marked a turning point in the French Revolution. Just a few days later, the Tuileries Palace was stormed once again, this time by the National Guard, leading to the capture of Louis XVI and the end of the monarchy. This historic photograph, taken from Mary Evans Picture Library, provides a powerful visual representation of the tumultuous events that shaped the course of French history. It serves as a reminder of the power of the people to demand change and the consequences of political resistance to their will.
