17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Annie Besant (1847-1933), a pioneering British social reformer and women's rights activist, is seen in this beautiful photograph with her beloved daughter, Mable (née Besant, later Mrs. Ernest Scott), and her granddaughter, Muriel. The image captures a tender moment of intergenerational love and the passing of the feminist torch from mother to daughter and granddaughter. Born into a working-class family, Annie Besant defied societal norms by pursuing education and becoming a freethinker and secularist. She later joined the Theosophical Society, where she met her future husband, Frank Besant. However, their marriage was short-lived, and Annie became a single mother to Mable. Annie's commitment to social justice and women's rights led her to become an active member of the Women's Suffrage Movement. She was a prominent figure in the movement, advocating for women's right to vote and challenging the patriarchal structures of society. Her unwavering determination and courage inspired countless women and men to join the cause. Mable, like her mother, was an advocate for women's rights and social justice. She married Ernest Scott, a British civil servant, and raised their family in India. Muriel, their daughter, grew up surrounded by the feminist ideals instilled in her by her grandmother and mother. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the legacy of Annie Besant and the impact she had on the lives of her family and the women's suffrage movement. It is a testament to the power of love, determination, and the indomitable spirit of women who dared to challenge the status quo.
