FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Pictures of the Year - VIII. 'Ulysses and the Sirens' is an enchanting print depicting a scene from Greek mythology, specifically from Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey. The image is an interpretation of John William Waterhouse's painting, 'Ulysses and the Sirens,' which was completed in 1891. The print, published in 'The Graphic: An Illustrated Weekly Newspaper' between July and December of 1891, captures the moment when the hero Ulysses, tied to the mast of his ship, resists the tempting song of the Sirens as his crewmen plug their ears with wax to avoid being lured to their deaths. The print showcases the Pre-Raphaelite artistic style, a movement that emphasized realistic depictions of nature and mythology. The image transports us to ancient Greece, with the ship sailing through the tranquil waters, surrounded by the rocky coastline and lush greenery. The Sirens, depicted as beautiful yet dangerous mythical creatures, are shown perched on rocks, their long hair flowing in the wind as they sing their enchanting melody. The print also highlights the heroic qualities of Ulysses, who, despite the allure of the Sirens, remains focused on his quest to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. The image is a testament to the power of self-control and the importance of staying true to one's goals, even in the face of temptation. Overall, 'Pictures of the Year - VIII. 'Ulysses and the Sirens' is a captivating work of art that transports us to a time and place far removed from our own, yet still relevant to our understanding of human nature and the power of mythology.
