31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Le 'Deutschland': The German Submarine 'Deutschland' in the Bay of Chesapeake, 1916. This historic photograph captures the German submarine 'Deutschland' making a daring appearance in the Bay of Chesapeake during the First World War. The exact date of this image is recorded as 1916, but the creator remains unknown. The 'Deutschland' was a formidable vessel of the German Navy, commissioned in 1911 by the Norddeutscher Lloyd, a major German shipping line. This submarine, also known as a U-boat, was a significant threat to Allied shipping during the war due to its advanced capabilities and stealth. The image shows the 'Deutschland' anchored in the Bay of Chesapeake, located in the eastern coast of the United States. The American coastline and the surrounding landscape are visible in the background, highlighting the transatlantic nature of the conflict. The photograph is a testament to the industrial might and the strategic importance of the shipping industry during the First World War. It also underscores the global reach of the conflict, with the Atlantic Ocean serving as a crucial battleground. The 'Deutschland' was eventually sunk in 1917, but its legacy as a symbol of German naval power and the challenges faced by the Allies in the Atlantic during the war continues to resonate. This photograph is a valuable historical record of a pivotal moment in the conflict, captured in black and white and preserved for future generations.
