17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking engraving, titled "Elizabeth, Queen of Great Britain," was created by the renowned Dutch artist Christoffel van Sichem I in the early 17th century. The portrait showcases Elizabeth I of England, also known as "Queen Bess" or "Queen Elizabeth I," who ruled from 1558 to 1603. Elizabeth is depicted wearing an elaborate Tudor gown, adorned with intricate patterns and rich fabrics, as well as a fur-lined mantle. The Queen holds the orb and sceptre, symbols of her power and authority, while her coat of arms, featuring the Tudor rose and the fleur-de-lis, is prominently displayed on the background. The engraving, which is on laid paper, is a testament to the artistic and fashionable traditions of the Renaissance period in Europe. It reflects the grandeur and elegance of the English monarchy during this time, as well as the influence of Dutch art and heraldry. The image has been preserved in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and serves as an important reminder of the rich cultural heritage of both Britain and the Netherlands. Christoffel van Sichem I, also known as Christoffel van Sichem the Elder, was a prominent engraver and printmaker in the Netherlands during the 16th and 17th centuries. His works, which include portraits, landscapes, and historical scenes, are highly sought after by collectors and scholars of European art. This engraving of Elizabeth I is a prime example of his skill and artistic vision, and continues to captivate audiences with its timeless beauty and historical significance.
