17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of a historic cricket match between Australia and England at The Adelaide Cricket Ground in 1912. Painted by Charles Alfred Petts, this artwork showcases the intense rivalry and sporting spirit that defined this iconic Test Match. The image transports us back to a time when cricket was not just a sport but also a religious experience for both nations. The towering presence of the cathedral in the background serves as a reminder of the deep-rooted connection between Christianity and cricket, highlighting how these two aspects shaped Australian culture. As players from both teams take their positions on the field, one can sense the anticipation and determination etched on their faces. Each cricketer represents their country with pride, embodying national identity through their skills and sportsmanship. The monochrome aesthetic adds an air of nostalgia to this century-old photograph, evoking memories of an era long gone. It symbolizes an important chapter in cricket history - The Ashes - where battles were fought fiercely on English soil or Australian turf. This print is not just about capturing a momentous sporting event; it encapsulates the concept of imperialism as well. With British Empire flags flying high around the stadium, it reminds us of how sports became intertwined with politics during that period. Overall, this print immortalizes an unforgettable match played at one of Australia's most renowned sports grounds while offering glimpses into cultural significance, national pride, and historical context all within its frame.
