23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

ROUSSEAU - SOCIAL CONTRACT - A Revolutionary Manifesto for a New Society

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print showcases the title page of the first edition of Jean Jacques Rousseau's groundbreaking work, "The Social Contract" published in Amsterdam in 1762. As an emblematic piece from the Age of Enlightenment, this book represents a pivotal moment in history when philosophers dared to challenge traditional notions and propose new ideas. Rousseau's "Social Contract" is not merely a philosophical treatise; it is a call to action, urging readers to reconsider their role within society and question existing power structures. The text explores the concept of social contract theory, arguing that individuals willingly surrender some freedoms to form a collective body governed by the general will. This radical notion challenged prevailing beliefs about monarchy and aristocracy, advocating for popular sovereignty instead. The significance of this first edition lies not only in its content but also its historical context. It symbolizes an era marked by intellectual curiosity and political upheaval as people sought liberty, equality, and fraternity. Through his eloquent prose and thought-provoking arguments, Rousseau ignited debates that would shape societies for centuries to come. As we gaze upon this remarkable image capturing Rousseau's title page with its elegant French typography and intricate design elements, we are reminded of the enduring impact philosophy has on our understanding of human nature and societal organization. This artwork serves as both an homage to Rousseau's genius and an invitation for us all to reflect on our own roles within the
