Graceful Hare Coursing Racing Slender Swift Tall Sighthound Smooth Coated

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This hand-coloured engraving from 1812 showcases "The Greyhound" a magnificent dog breed renowned for its elegance and speed. The image, part of the Stapleton Collection, exudes a sense of timeless beauty and grace. The Greyhound depicted in this print possesses all the characteristics that make it an exceptional racing and coursing companion. Its tall stature, slender frame, and deep chest are perfectly suited for swift movement. With powerful legs propelling it forward, this sighthound is built for incredible speed on the racetrack or during hare coursing. The artist's attention to detail is evident in every stroke of the engraving. The smooth coat of the Greyhound glistens under gentle light, emphasizing its sleekness and athleticism. As it walks with poise and confidence, one can almost feel its energy ready to be unleashed. A walking stick or cane held by an unseen figure adds intrigue to the scene. Perhaps it belongs to a proud owner or admirer who appreciates both artistry and canine excellence. This enchanting piece captures not only the physical attributes but also the spirit of this remarkable breed. It serves as a reminder that dogs have long been cherished companions throughout history, celebrated for their unique abilities and unwavering loyalty.
