17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This oil on canvas painting by George Stubbs showcases Assheton, the first Viscount Curzon, alongside his beloved mare Maria. Painted in 1771, this exquisite piece of art captures the essence of nobility and elegance during the 18th century in Britain. Viscount Curzon stands proudly beside Maria, who is depicted with remarkable anatomical detail. The artist's attention to every muscle and sinew brings life to the majestic racehorse. With its head held high and a sense of strength emanating from its powerful stance, Maria exudes grace and beauty. The composition beautifully combines elements of landscape and equestrianism. The lush scenery behind them adds depth to the painting while also highlighting their noble status within society. Assheton holds onto Maria's reins as if leading her towards victory on a race course. Stubbs' mastery lies not only in capturing physical likeness but also in conveying emotion through his brushstrokes. This portrait radiates a sense of deep connection between man and horse – an unspoken bond that transcends words. Displayed at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, this artwork continues to captivate viewers with its timeless charm. It serves as a testament to both Stubbs' artistic talent and Viscount Curzon's love for his cherished mare Maria. As we gaze upon this masterpiece today, we are transported back to a bygone era where nobility reigned supreme and horses were revered symbols of power and prestige.
