17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the Tasmania Gold Mine in Beaconsfield, Tasmania during the early 20th century. The image, taken by an Australian photographer, showcases the industrial prowess of Australia's mining industry at the time. The photograph is part of a private collection and was originally featured as an illustration in "Glimpses of Australia" published by the Department of External Affairs in Melbourne in 1908. It provides a glimpse into the rich history and significance of gold mining in Tasmania. In this striking image, we see a pit filled with workers toiling away amidst machinery and equipment. The stark contrast between light and shadow adds depth to the scene, emphasizing both the dangerous nature of their work and their determination to extract precious gold from deep within the earth. The Tasmanian landscape serves as a dramatic backdrop for this snapshot of industrial progress. The sight of towering factory structures against a pristine natural setting creates a visual juxtaposition that speaks volumes about human intervention on this land. As we gaze upon this historic photograph, it evokes feelings of awe for those who labored tirelessly underground to unearth treasures that would shape Australia's economy. It also reminds us of our ongoing fascination with exploration and discovery. This black-and-white masterpiece offers us not only a window into Tasmania's past but also prompts contemplation about humanity's relationship with nature and our relentless pursuit for wealth hidden beneath its surface.
