17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Young Angler
EDITORS COMMENTS
by Myles Birket Foster is a captivating artwork that beautifully captures the essence of outdoor leisure in nineteenth-century England. This pencil and watercolour print, heightened with bodycolour, transports us to a serene riverbank where a young angler patiently waits for her catch. The artist's meticulous attention to detail brings this scene to life. The lush greenery of the embankment and the gentle flow of the river create a natural space that invites tranquility and relaxation. The young woman, seated by the side of the river, exudes both grace and determination as she skillfully handles her fishing line. Foster's portrayal not only showcases his technical prowess but also reflects Victorian ideals of femininity and recreation. In an era when women were often confined to domestic roles, this depiction challenges traditional gender norms by presenting a female engaging in an activity typically associated with men. The composition also highlights the presence of another figure - a man standing nearby who may be offering guidance or simply enjoying their shared passion for angling. Their camaraderie adds depth to the narrative, emphasizing how leisure activities can bring people together across different ages and backgrounds. "The Young Angler" is not just a snapshot frozen in time; it embodies youthful energy, patience, and appreciation for nature's beauty. As we gaze upon this artwork today, we are reminded of our own connection with nature and how taking moments for ourselves amidst busy lives can rejuvenate our spirits.
