17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases an exquisite engraving by G. Zuliani, taken from Tome I of the "Newest Atlas" published in Venice in 1777 by Antonio Zatta. The artwork, now part of a private collection in Florence, takes us on a journey through time and space as it depicts the governances of Dauphin, Provence, the County of Venaissin, and the Principate of Orange. The intricate details and precision captured in this Renaissance-Baroque style engraving are truly remarkable. It beautifully combines elements of cartography with allegory to present a visual representation of these territories during the eighteenth century. As we explore this piece further, we can appreciate its significance as both a historical document and a work of art. Through this image, we gain insight into France's modern history—specifically its governance structures during that era—and how they were intertwined with Europe's broader geopolitical landscape. The artist skillfully conveys not only geographical information but also abstract concepts and symbols associated with each territory. This print serves as a testament to the power and beauty found within maps—a means of communication that transcends language barriers while providing invaluable insights into our world's past. It reminds us that even centuries later, these artifacts continue to captivate our imagination and spark curiosity about different cultures and societies. As we contemplate this enchanting artwork created over two centuries ago by Zuliani G. , let us marvel at its ability to transport us back in time—to an age where drawing graphics was not just an act but rather an expression—an expression that has endured through generations thanks to Alinari's dedication to preserving such treasures for all to admire.
