Planetary dust ring changes, artwork C015 / 0803

Planetary dust ring changes. Artwork showing a post-dust stage in the formation of planets around the parent star of the TYC 8241 2652 system. For the same system before the dust has cleared, see image C015/0804. This system was first observed in 1983, and for some 25 years the dust ring was visible glowing in infrared. It was then found that the dust had gone when observed in 2012. It is not clear what caused this phenomenon, but explanations may require construction of new theories of circumstellar discs and planetary formation. TYC 8241 2652 is 450 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Centaurus

A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork, titled "Planetary Dust Ring Changes" offers a glimpse into the enigmatic world of planetary formation. Depicting a post-dust stage in the evolution of planets around TYC 8241 2652, the parent star of an intriguing system located 450 light years away in the Centaurus constellation, this image sparks curiosity and wonder. For over two decades since its discovery in 1983, astronomers observed a luminous infrared glow emanating from a prominent dust ring encircling this distant star. However, when scientists turned their gaze towards it again in 2012, they were met with astonishment as the once vibrant dust had vanished without a trace. The disappearance of this celestial debris poses an enthralling mystery that challenges our current understanding of circumstellar discs and planetary formation. To unravel this perplexing phenomenon, new theories may need to be constructed within the realms of astrophysics and planetary science. Through intricate brushstrokes and vivid colors, artist Lynette Cook brings to life this cosmic sequence – capturing both the beauty and intrigue that lies within our vast universe. This mesmerizing artwork invites us to contemplate the unexplained forces at play during early stellar systems' evolution while hinting at potential alien worlds orbiting distant stars. "Planetary Dust Ring Changes" serves as a reminder that there is still much we have yet to comprehend about our ever-expanding cosmos – beckoning humanity on an endless quest for knowledge beyond our earthly boundaries.
