Suffragette Board Game PANK-A-SQUITH

A suffragette board game called Pank-A-Squith which was first advertised in the pages of Votes for Women, October 1909. It was described as a highly artistic TABLE GAME that helps to spread the movement. A suffragette tries to get from her home to the Houses of Parliament facing a series of challenges and various incidents. There are 50 squares, each having a detailed and colourful vignette, showing 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park Demonstrations, Bow St. Court, Queen's Hall, Clements Inn, Mrs. Pankhurst, Inspector Jarvis, Prime Minister Asquith, Tax Resistance, The Suffragette Dreadnought, Hunger Strikers, Holloway Prison and the forging of suffragette brand handcuffs. There are six metal suffragette figures with sashes and scrolls. The base of the board is of purple, white and green stripes. Date: 1909

Traditional Japanese Woodblock Geishas in a Garden

This print shows two Geisha's tending to plants in a garden. There are several pots of different shapes and sizes. The Geisha kneeling appears to be tending to Marigolds.Utagawa Toyokuni (1769, Edo - February 24, 1825, Edo) was born as the son of a puppet maker.He learned printmaking as a student of Toyoharu. At the beginning of his career he concentrated on bijin-ga - images of beautiful women. This image is from the 36 views with Meiko (Geisha girls) and is number 34 in the series published by Tstutaya Kichizo.This print forms part of my personal collection

Tungsten carbide slip gauge blocks C016/2042

Tungsten carbide slip gauge blocks. These are used as a standard form of length measurement. They are precision ground (lapped) to a specific thickness and then stacked to create the required length. The instructions inside the lid of the box refer to wringing, the process of placing two or more gauge blocks together so that the ultra-flat surfaces adhere to each other.
