This stunning image is part of the seventh album within a collection of drawings depicting reptiles, amphibians, and various natural history ensembles. These twelve albums were commissioned by Emperor Rudolf II around 1600 and are renowned for their exquisite watercolor illustrations of animals, birds, and plants. Accompanying these detailed depictions are explanations written in Dutch, Latin, and French languages.
