Created during the intense heat of a lightning strike, this tube is formed by molten sand or rock that solidifies into an intricate and delicate structure. The Latin name for this particular specimen can be found in the top right corner, while its identification number is displayed on the top left: 27. This stunning image is part of the seventh album within a collection of drawings depicting reptiles, amphibians, and various natural history ensembles. These twelve albums were commissioned by Emperor Rudolf II around 1600 and are renowned for their exquisite watercolor illustrations of animals, birds, and plants.
