Jupiter probe

Galileo probe falling through the atmosphere of Jupiter. This small probe was deployed from the Galileo spacecraft on July 13 1995, entering the atmosphere on 7 December 1995 at speeds of over 47 kilometres per second. A parachute slowed its 600 kilometre descent, and the probe beamed data back to the orbiting Galileo spacecraft for 57 minutes, before being crushed by the atmospheric pressures. It discovered strong winds and an atmosphere of mostly hydrogen, 9% helium, and traces of methane, ammonia and water. The composition of the clouds was not determined, as the probe appears to have descended through a hole in the cloud layers

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the awe-inspiring moment when the Galileo probe descended through the atmosphere of Jupiter, revealing tantalizing secrets about this gas giant. Released from its parent spacecraft on July 13,1995, this small but courageous probe braved speeds exceeding 47 kilometers per second as it embarked on its daring mission. As it hurtled towards Jupiter's surface, a parachute gracefully slowed its descent over a distance of 600 kilometers. During those precious minutes in contact with the orbiting Galileo spacecraft, the probe transmitted invaluable data back to Earth-bound scientists for an astounding duration of 57 minutes. The information beamed back by this intrepid explorer unveiled astonishing discoveries about Jupiter's atmospheric composition. It disclosed that hydrogen dominated this colossal planet's atmosphere while helium accounted for approximately 9%. Traces of methane, ammonia, and water were also detected within these mysterious clouds. However, one enigma remains unsolved: due to an unforeseen occurrence during descent, the probe appeared to have passed through a hole in Jupiter's cloud layers. Consequently, determining the precise composition of these ethereal formations remained elusive. This remarkable image serves as a testament to human ingenuity and our unquenchable thirst for knowledge beyond our own celestial boundaries. It is a reminder that even in our vast universe filled with wonders yet unknown; we persistently strive to unravel their mysteries through tireless research and exploration.
