They are at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) near Chicago, USA. The Main Ring, consisting of 1000 red and blue conventional magnets, sits on the Tevatron ring of 1000 super- conducting magnets (one partially seen below the red magnet). The Main Ring accelerates protons and antiprotons to 150 billion electronvolts (150 GeV), before feeding them into the Tevatron ring, where they are accelerated to one trillion eV (1 TeV).
