Northern Glider Glass Place Mat Collection

Northern Glider (Petauridae) is a species of gliding mammal native to Australia, and are small, arboreal marsupials with long tails and large eyes. Their fur is usually grey or brown in color and they have a white stripe running along their back, and are able to glide up to 50 meters between trees using their patagium, a membrane of skin stretched between the forelimbs and hind limbs. They feed on insects, fruits, nectar, and sap from trees. Northern Gliders live in forests throughout eastern Australia from Queensland down to Victoria but can also be found in parts of New South Wales and South Australia, and are nocturnal animals that spend most of the day sleeping in tree hollows or nests made out of leaves and branches high up in the canopy, and are listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss caused by deforestation but conservation efforts have been successful at increasing their population numbers over recent years.
