EDITORS COMMENTS
In this powerful print captured by Science Photo Library, we witness a genuine moment of vulnerability and discomfort. A 9-year-old boy, his face contorted in a sneeze, releases the forceful expulsion of air into a tissue. This act is not merely an ordinary sneeze; it is a consequence of rhinitis, an inflammation that affects the upper nasal tract. The young boy's oriental features are highlighted as he grapples with the symptoms caused by colds, influenza, or allergies such as hay fever. His hand delicately holds the tissue to catch the aftermath of his uncontrollable reflex. This image serves as a poignant reminder of our shared human experiences when faced with illness and discomfort. It prompts us to reflect on the importance of medicine and proper care during times like these. As we observe this child's inflamed expression and contemplate his struggle against allergic reactions or infections like flu, we are reminded that even at such tender ages, children can be affected by medical conditions beyond their control. Let this photograph serve as a call for empathy towards those battling similar ailments. May it inspire us to provide support and understanding to individuals enduring rhinitis or any other form of inflammation that disrupts their daily lives.
