Model of Venera 9 spacecraft
Venera 9. Model of the lander of the Soviet Venera 9 spacecraft. Venera 9 was launched on 8 June 1975 and entered a highly-elliptical orbit around Venus on 22 October. The 660kg lander was released on 20 October, and entered the atmosphere of Venus on 22 October. After slowing down from its entry speed of 38, 558 km per hour, the lander touched down successfully. It returned a single panoramic image of the surface and made various atmospheric measurements before being destroyed by the hostile conditions on the planet. The orbiter section of Venera 9 continued operations into 1976

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a meticulously detailed model of the Venera 9 spacecraft, an iconic symbol of Soviet space exploration. Launched on June 8,1975, this remarkable spacecraft embarked on a groundbreaking mission to Venus, our neighboring planet. The model specifically represents the lander section of Venera 9, weighing an impressive 660 kilograms. On October 20th of the same year, it was released into Venus' atmosphere after entering a highly-elliptical orbit around the planet just two days prior. Despite facing extreme conditions and incredible speeds upon entry (38,558 km per hour), this resilient lander successfully touched down on Venus' surface. During its brief existence in this hostile environment, Venera 9's lander managed to capture and transmit back to Earth a single panoramic image of the mysterious Venusian landscape. Additionally, it conducted various atmospheric measurements that provided invaluable insights into our planetary neighbor. Regrettably though not surprisingly given Venus' harsh conditions, these achievements came at a cost as the lander ultimately succumbed to its surroundings and met its demise shortly after completing its scientific duties. However, while the lander's journey concluded prematurely due to these inhospitable circumstances, it is worth noting that Venera 9's orbiter section continued operating until early 1976 – further contributing valuable data about Venus during its extended mission duration. This extraordinary model serves as both a testament to human ingenuity and perseverance in exploring unknown frontiers and
