As a celebrated artist of the 20th century, Price expertly crafted this remarkable artifact that has become an enduring symbol of American culture and heritage. The wooden figure stands tall on its plinth, adorned with intricate details and vibrant colors that bring it to life. Dressed in traditional Native American attire, complete with a feathered headdress and flowing garments, it exudes a sense of pride and dignity. With its hand-carved features and meticulous craftsmanship, this artwork represents the rich history of indigenous peoples in America. The Cigar Store Indian served as both an advertisement for tobacco products and as a representation of Native Americans during the early 1900s. Displayed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, this piece is part of the esteemed Index of American Design collection. It beautifully captures not only the artistic talent but also reflects upon cultural values from that era.
