EDITORS COMMENTS
This print, titled "Chair-mender, News Boy, Flying Pieman and Blackfriars Bridge" offers a glimpse into the bustling streets of 19th century London. The woodcut engraving by Isaac Taylor showcases the diverse trades and vibrant atmosphere of the capital city. In this scene, we see a chair-mender diligently repairing a seat with rushes in Punyer Alley. Nearby, a newspaper boy energetically sells papers while a flying pieman tempts passersby with his delicious pies near the Obelisk on Fleet Street.
