Orangutan Collection

Orangutans are mammals of the family Hominidae, native to Indonesia and Malaysia, and are the only exclusively Asian genus of extant great ape. The largest living arboreal animals, they have proportionally longer arms than other primates and their hair is typically reddish-brown, and are among the most intelligent primates and use a variety of sophisticated tools, also making sleeping nests each night from branches and foliage. Orangutans spend most of their time alone or in small groups, foraging for fruit, leaves, insects, honey and bark and can live up to 50 years in both the wild and captivity; however due to deforestation they are critically endangered with an estimated population of 14000-60000 left in the wild. Conservation efforts have been put into place to help protect these amazing creatures from further decline.
