Zoo chimps decide position of a parasol! The hot weather resulted in an argument

Zoo chimps decide position of a parasol!
The hot weather resulted in an argument at the London Zoo between Peter and Jackie, the chimpanzees. Jackie managed to " borrow" a visitors parasol and Peter insisted on sharing it. In the end, it was the parasol that got the worst of it!
Photo shows: Jackie, temporarily in possession of the parasol, waves it triumphantly aloft.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from 1937, the London Zoo becomes a stage for an unexpected battle of wills between two mischievous chimpanzees. As the scorching heat of the day intensifies, Peter and Jackie find themselves caught in a heated argument over the positioning of a borrowed parasol. Jackie, cunningly seizing an opportunity to escape from the relentless sun, manages to snatch a visitor's parasol. However, her triumph is short-lived as Peter insists on sharing it with her. The ensuing power struggle unfolds comically before our eyes. With mischievous delight evident in her eyes, Jackie defiantly waves the coveted parasol high above her head. It seems that she has won this round of their playful dispute. Meanwhile, poor Peter stands by with an expression that suggests he may have underestimated his opponent. This humorous scene captures not only the cleverness and resourcefulness of these zoo chimps but also highlights their ability to engage in complex social interactions reminiscent of human behavior. The photograph serves as a reminder that even animals can experience moments filled with humor and lightheartedness. Preserved through time by TopFoto. co. uk, this monochrome image transports us back to an era between wars when life was simpler yet still full of surprises - especially when observing our animal counterparts at play.
