All fall down! Contestants in the three-legged race at Scissett C of E First School

All fall down! Contestants in the three-legged race at Scissett C of E First School summer fair find it is harder than it looks. The youngsters were among large crowds who enjoyed a fun-filled day, taking part in events based on Medieval country fairs such as apple bobbing and watching people suffer in the stocks. The fair got off to a traditional start when former headmaster Mr Brian Carter toured the village as a town crier. Scissett Youth Band provided entertainment and youngsters gave a country dancing display. Firms and shops made donations. Children from Class 5 raised money for the Examiner Bodyscanner Appeal with several stalls, while the fair raised 800 to buy play equipment for the infants school. 20th June 1987.All fall down! EDITORS COMMENTS
All fall down! Contestants in the three-legged race at Scissett C of E First School summer fair find it is harder than it looks. The photo captures a moment of pure joy and laughter as children stumble and tumble, their legs entwined in an attempt to reach the finish line. It's a testament to the resilience and determination of these young participants who eagerly took part in this traditional event. The summer fair was a delightful day filled with fun activities inspired by Medieval country fairs. From apple bobbing to watching people suffer in the stocks, everyone had something to enjoy. Former headmaster Mr Brian Carter kicked off the festivities by touring the village as a town crier, adding an authentic touch to the event. Entertainment was provided by Scissett Youth Band, while youngsters showcased their talent through country dancing displays. Local businesses generously donated funds, making it possible for Class 5 students to set up stalls and raise money for Examiner Bodyscanner Appeal. This heartwarming image not only captures a moment of innocent childhood excitement but also highlights how communities can come together for a good cause. The fair managed to raise £800, which was used to purchase new play equipment for the infants school. This nostalgic photograph from June 20th, 1987 serves as a reminder that even simple events like school fairs can create lasting memories and contribute positively towards important causes.
