17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph from the 1920s, we witness a bustling scene at Paddington Station in London as railway workers efficiently collect milk churns from a dairy motor vehicle and load them onto wooden goods wagons. The era's industrial charm is palpable as the workers don their caps and aprons, their faces set with determination as they maneuver the heavy churns. The dairy motor vehicle, a precursor to modern refrigerated trucks, would have been an essential innovation for transporting milk from rural areas to urban centers during this time. The milk, fresh and unpasteurized, would have been collected from local farms and brought to the station, where it would be loaded onto the goods wagons for distribution to consumers in London and beyond. The wooden goods wagons, with their distinctive latticed sides, are a testament to the era's transportation methods. The workers' deft coordination and the precision of their movements speak to the efficiency and importance of this process in ensuring that Londoners had a steady supply of fresh milk. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the rhythm of daily life was closely tied to the agricultural cycles and the intricacies of transportation networks. The image is a poignant reminder of the human effort and ingenuity that went into bringing essential goods to communities, long before the advent of modern logistics and supply chains. As we admire this photograph from the STEAM Museum of the Great Western Railway, we are reminded of the rich history of transportation and the vital role it plays in our daily lives. The scene at Paddington Station, with its industrious workers and iconic vehicles, is a testament to the enduring allure of the past and the continuity of human endeavor.
