23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from Sheffield City Archives takes us back in time to the year 1916, amidst the chaos of World War I. The image showcases a group of brave soldiers belonging to the Sheffield Army Service Corps, their faces etched with determination and resilience. These valiant men proudly display their name plaque, "The Blades" which undoubtedly symbolizes their unwavering strength and unity. Sheffield, located in Yorkshire, played a significant role during this tumultuous period in history. As an industrial city renowned for its steel production, it was only fitting that these soldiers were associated with such a powerful emblem as "The Blades". Their commitment to serving their country is evident through every line on their faces and every button on their uniforms. Preserved meticulously from an original at Sheffield Libraries (p01004), this print serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals during World War I. It stands as a testament to the bravery and selflessness exhibited by those who fought tirelessly for peace and freedom. As we gaze upon these solemn faces frozen in time, let us remember not only the soldiers themselves but also the countless others who supported them behind-the-scenes – families torn apart by war, communities rallying together in solidarity. This photograph encapsulates both the spirit of camaraderie within the Army Service Corps and pays homage to all those affected by one of humanity's darkest chapters – World War I.
