Total solar eclipse
The large, shining corona of the Sun, seen during the total solar eclipse of 11 July 1991 from Baja Caifornia, Mexico. The visible corona is in fact the overlapping K-corona and F-corona. Usually it is only visible during eclipses, as the light from the Suns photosphere drowns it out. The K-corona consists of fast-moving free electrons at a temperature of about 2 million Kelvin, at heights of about 75, 000km above the Suns surface. The F- corona extends for many million km, and consists mainly of slow-moving particles of cosmic dust. The shape of the corona changes during the cycle of solar activity under the infuence of the Suns magnetic field

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the awe-inspiring moment of a total solar eclipse that occurred on July 11,1991, in Baja California, Mexico. The image showcases the large and radiant corona of the Sun, which is typically concealed by the overwhelming brightness of its photosphere. During an eclipse, however, this magnificent spectacle becomes visible to us. The corona we see here is actually a combination of two overlapping components: the K-corona and F-corona. The K-corona consists of fast-moving free electrons at incredibly high temperatures reaching around 2 million Kelvin. It exists at heights approximately 75,000 kilometers above the Sun's surface. On the other hand, stretching for millions of kilometers beyond lies the F-corona composed mainly of slow-moving cosmic dust particles. Throughout different stages of solar activity influenced by magnetic fields emanating from our star, this ethereal corona undergoes transformations in shape and appearance. This extraordinary photograph not only provides a glimpse into celestial beauty but also serves as a reminder of our profound connection to space and its mysteries. With elements like science, astronomy, cosmology intertwined with notions such as energy and abnormality - it sparks curiosity about our place in this vast universe. Courtesy Science Photo Library (not affiliated with any company), this print invites contemplation on both scientific wonders and artistic appreciation for nature's grandeur.
