The Milky Way and some of its famous members

Artwork of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The position within the galaxy of some well known objects is also shown: supernova remnants with their peculiar objects (black holes and neutron stars) SS433, M1, Tycho, Vela and G109.1-1.0; starbirth regions W3 and Orion; a young powerful star, Eta Carinae, and the Pleiades, a cluster of newly-born stars. The Milky Way contains at least 100 billion stars and may be divided into three regions: the central bulge (white-yellow at centre), the disc with the spiral arms and the galactic halo (not shown). The central bulge is populated by old stars whereas the disc contains young stars and a higher density of open star clusters and interstellar gas

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This breathtaking artwork captures the magnificence of our galaxy, the Milky Way, and some of its most renowned members. The image showcases a stunning display of celestial objects, each with their own unique significance within our galactic neighborhood. Among the featured stars are supernova remnants accompanied by enigmatic entities like black holes and neutron stars. SS433, M1, Tycho, Vela, and G109.1-1.0 stand as testaments to the explosive forces that shape our universe. In contrast to these remnants lie starbirth regions W3 and Orion, where new life emerges from interstellar gas clouds. One prominent figure in this cosmic masterpiece is Eta Carinae - a youthful powerhouse illuminating its surroundings with an intense radiance. Its brilliance serves as a reminder of the immense energy generated by young stars. Adding to this stellar ensemble is the Pleiades cluster; a congregation of newborn stars shining brightly against the backdrop of space's infinite canvas. The Milky Way itself spans across this awe-inspiring composition; home to over 100 billion stars divided into three distinct regions: the central bulge at its core populated by ancient luminaries; a disc adorned with spiral arms housing young stars along with open star clusters and interstellar gas; and finally, an unseen galactic halo encompassing it all. This artwork not only celebrates the beauty found within our galaxy but also invites us to ponder upon its vastness and complexity – reminding us that we are mere spectators in this grand cosmic
