ISS and the Moon C013 / 5148
ISS and the Moon. The International Space Station (ISS, upper left) is orbiting the Earth here at an altitude of around 390 kilometres. The Moon orbits the Earth at a distance of around 385, 000 kilometres, nearly 1000 times as far, but is far larger, being around 3480 kilometres across compared to the ISS width of around 100 metres. The ISS takes a few minutes to cross the sky, orbiting the Earth every 92 minutes. The Moon rises and sets daily due to the rotation of the Earth, taking just over 27 days to complete its orbit. Photographed on 4 January 2012 from Houston, Texas, USA

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the awe-inspiring sight of the International Space Station (ISS) and the Moon in a single frame. The ISS, depicted in the upper left corner, gracefully orbits our planet at an altitude of approximately 390 kilometers. In contrast, the Moon's orbit extends to a staggering distance of around 385,000 kilometers from Earth. Despite this vast separation, the Moon appears significantly larger than the ISS due to its impressive diameter of about 3,480 kilometers compared to the space station's width of merely 100 meters. The ISS swiftly traverses across our sky within a few minutes as it completes an orbit around Earth every 92 minutes. On the other hand, we witness daily lunar phenomena such as moonrise and moonset caused by Earth's rotation while it takes slightly over 27 days for our celestial companion to complete its own orbit. Captured on January 4th, 2012 from Houston, Texas in the United States by NASA/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY, this image not only highlights technological marvels like space flight but also invites us to ponder upon cosmic scales and distances. It serves as a reminder that even though seemingly small when compared to celestial bodies like our Moon or planets within our solar system; human ingenuity has allowed us to venture beyond Earth's boundaries with remarkable achievements like constructing and maintaining an orbital outpost such as the International Space Station.
