Human diseases

Human diseases. Artwork of a male silhouetted figure, surrounded by various disease-causing organisms. The mosquito (Anopheles gambiae, upper left) transmits a parasitic protozoan it bites, causing malaria. A pollen grain is seen at upper centre (orange), which can cause an allergic reaction (hay fever). When the bacterium (Vibrio cholerae) at lower left is ingested from contaminated food or drink, it causes cholera. Cholera is an intestinal disorder with symptoms including sever vomiting and diarrhoea. The virus at centre (red) is transmitted from the bite of certain animals and causes rabies (hydrophobia)

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Human Diseases" captures the intricate web of health hazards that surround us. In this thought-provoking artwork, a male silhouette stands tall, symbolizing our vulnerability to various disease-causing organisms. The upper left corner showcases the menacing mosquito, specifically Anopheles gambiae, known for transmitting the parasitic protozoan responsible for malaria. This serves as a stark reminder of how something as small as a mosquito bite can have devastating consequences on human health. At the upper center, an orange pollen grain looms large, representing allergens that trigger hay fever and allergic reactions in susceptible individuals. It highlights how even seemingly harmless elements in nature can wreak havoc on our well-being. Moving to the lower left corner, we encounter Vibrio cholerae - a bacterium notorious for causing cholera when ingested through contaminated food or drink. Cholera manifests with severe vomiting and diarrhea, underscoring the debilitating effects of bacterial infections on our digestive system. In the center of this composition lies a vibrant red virus; its transmission from certain animals' bites leads to rabies or hydrophobia. This depiction emphasizes both the danger posed by animal-borne diseases and their potential impact on human lives. Through this mesmerizing illustration blending artistry and scientific accuracy, Science Photo Library sheds light on humanity's constant battle against infectious agents. It serves as a powerful testament to why medicine and healthcare play crucial roles in safeguarding our well-being amidst an ever-evolving landscape of pathogens
