GSLV-D2 space rocket

Space rocket on the launch pad. This is the Indian Space Research Organisations Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) D2. It was 49 metres tall, and had a lift-off weight of 414 tonnes. This rocket used solid, liquid and cryogenic fuel for propulsion. It launched GSAT-2, an experimental communications satellite, into Earth orbit on 8 May 2003. It also carried four experimental payloads. The payload is contained in the topmost part of the rocket. GSLV- D2 launched from Sriharikota, an island on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, north of Chennai

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the GSLV-D2 space rocket, standing tall on the launch pad. As a remarkable creation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), this Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) D2 stands at an impressive height of 49 metres and weighs a staggering 414 tonnes during lift-off. What sets this rocket apart is its unique propulsion system, utilizing solid, liquid, and cryogenic fuel. On that momentous day of May 8th, 2003, GSLV-D2 embarked on a groundbreaking mission to deliver GSAT-2 into Earth's orbit. This experimental communications satellite was accompanied by four additional payloads within the topmost part of the rocket. The Sriharikota launch site in India's Bay of Bengal witnessed this awe-inspiring event unfold as GSLV-D2 soared towards the heavens. This photograph not only captures an extraordinary feat of engineering but also symbolizes India's significant contributions to astronomical advancements. With its technological prowess and dedication to scientific research, ISRO continues to push boundaries in space exploration and transportation. The vastness of our universe unfolds before us through images like these—reminding us how small we are in comparison yet inspiring us with endless possibilities for discovery beyond our planet's atmosphere. Science Photo Library has masterfully captured this iconic moment from ISRO's history—a testament to human ingenuity reaching for the stars.
