Dwarf planets and their orbits, artwork

Dwarf planets and their orbits. Computer artwork showing six dwarf planets (across bottom) and their orbits around the Sun (centre). From left to right the dwarf planets are; Quaoar, Sedna, 2005 FY9, Haumea, Pluto and Eris. A dwarf planet is an object that fails to dominate its orbit around the Sun (unlike a true planet), but which still has an independent orbit (unlike moons), and is large enough to be spherical due to gravity

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork showcases the intricate dance of dwarf planets and their orbits around the radiant Sun. In this computer-generated masterpiece, six remarkable celestial bodies grace the bottom of the image, each with its own unique story to tell. From left to right, we are introduced to Quaoar, Sedna, 2005 FY9, Haumea, Pluto, and Eris. While these enchanting objects may not possess enough gravitational influence to be considered full-fledged planets like Earth or Jupiter, they still hold an independent orbit within our vast solar system. Their spherical shape is a testament to the relentless pull of gravity that shapes them over time. The mesmerizing arrangement beautifully illustrates how these dwarf planets obediently revolve around our life-giving star at the center - a reminder of nature's harmonious symphony in space. As we gaze upon this awe-inspiring composition, it becomes clear that there is so much more than meets the eye when exploring our cosmic neighborhood. With its rich colors and meticulous attention to detail, this artwork from Science Photo Library invites us on a visual journey through distant realms and sparks curiosity about what lies beyond our familiar terrestrial abode. It serves as a poignant reminder of humanity's ceaseless quest for knowledge and understanding in an ever-expanding universe.
